Chrichina – Original Georgian Movie Poster

The 1954 Georgian cinema classic, Chrichina, is based on Marika Baratashvili’s play Marine. The story follows Marine, a carefree young woman nicknamed “Chrichina” (meaning “cricket” in Georgian) by her fellow villagers. She travels to Tbilisi to take entrance exams for higher education and stays with her relatives. However, after failing her first exam, she returns home in shame, only to face an unexpected welcome from her uncle, further deepening her distress.
