Plot Summary

The film follows Aguli Eristavi, a gifted sculptor who, due to financial necessity and family pressure, gradually ends up working as a cemetery monument craftsman. As his days slip into the monotony of repetitive work, devoid of inspiration or meaning, he becomes a victim of conformity. Eventually, Aguli attempts to rebel against this oppressive routine—but his rebellion resembles nothing more than a storm in a teacup.

Eldar Shengelaia’s film is a biting satire, rich with absurd humor and self-irony, reflecting the absurdity of bureaucracy, routine, and lost artistic identity in a system that often stifled creativity.

Poster Description

The original film poster is crafted in the Soviet-era Georgian graphic style, known for its photocollage techniques and limited color palettes, often two or three contrasting tones. The design features a portrait of the protagonist, Aguli, with expressive framing and background imagery that hints at both his artistic aspirations and the surreal, comic tone of the film.

The visual juxtaposition of serious expression and whimsical composition encapsulates the dual nature of the story—profoundly philosophical yet infused with dry humor.
