How we frame a poster in Georgian linden

Every frame we sell starts as a plank of Georgian linden. Linden is light, straight-grained and soft enough to cut cleanly, which is why carvers have loved it for centuries.

1. Cutting the profile

Each side is 1.5 cm wide and 1.5 cm deep. We cut the profile ourselves, so the corners meet without gaps.

2. Joining the corners

The four sides are glued and pinned at 45°. We let them rest overnight before sanding.

A good frame disappears. You should notice the poster first, and the frame only when you come closer.

3. Finishing

Natural frames get a clear oil. Coloured frames are painted with eco-friendly paints in two thin coats.

4. Glass and backing

Every frame comes with glass. For shipping abroad we switch to plexiglass, so it arrives in one piece.

5. Checking by hand

Before a framed poster leaves the workshop, we look at it under daylight one last time.
